10km 44:54 (NOMAN Ibiza-Barcelona, run session 9)

I really just wanted to chill out after work and after my final busy week pre-NOMAN so I went out for an ‘on-feel’ run with no thoughts on distance, pace, route, heart rate – nothing really apart from footfall, breathing and rhythm.

I ran 8km on grass and dirt with 2km of link ups on road. My average pace was 4:29pkm and my HR was a nice an steady average of 159bpm – I think my Grim Reaper 70 miler strategy is going to be based largely around heart rate, consistency and rhythm and it seems to be coming together over the past 9 runs that I’ve done. Time will tell whether it works on race day, what with that coming so soon after rowing 200 miles across an ocean?!

All in all this run was a great way to end a pretty busy week and I’m looking forward to my pre-race party tomorrow! 4 days until I fly to Ibiza. 8 days until I row 200 miles from there to Barcelona.

You, yes you reading this, you're invited! Come along. Have a beer. Have a chat. Learn about ocean rowing.

Wow, it’s getting really real now!!
