8km 33:22 (NOMAN Ibiza-Barcelona, run session 5a)

*2 minute rest*

2km 9:07 (NOMAN Ibiza-Barcelona, run session 5b)

*16 days until the race*

After doing zero training over the weekend I figured I should try my best to get out and at least run hard today. It has been a scorcher of a day here so I waited for 1900hrs to roll around – the temperature still hadn’t dropped having been at twenty-five C pretty much all day! I thought little of this and decided to try and push for my 5 mile/8km PR which currently stands at 31:01 – I blew up at around 7km and prior to that, around the 2km mark I had to stop to regurgitate a fly that was doing its best to try and choke me!

With each run I’ve done in this training cycle I feel myself getting stronger and I am actually really looking forward to lining up at the Grim Reaper 70 with fresher legs than I might have had if I’d just been focused on that and not the rowing. I’m also starting to think about my marathon PR and taking some minutes off that before the year is out…and I’m starting to think about a nice new pair of Adidas Ultra Boost to help me get that job done…

But, before any of that, I need to cross 200 miles of open sea in 16 days so I can’t let my focus drift too much! You know it by now folks: global cause, noble cause, helping to prevent 5% of all cancers – you can help by clicking the NOMAN picture below and donating and I’m going to continue helping by spreading the word and talking to anyone and everyone about the human papillomavirus and its place at the forefront of cancer research. Let’s all join forces and stop future generations having to suffer needlessly – let’s get the HPV vaccines administered universally and globally!

NOMAN raises awareness about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) related cancer epidemic in men and women, and campaigns for universal HPV vaccination, while challenging participants to extreme endurance races across the world.
