*38 days until the race*
Today is a short and sweet post dear reader as I am on my last sleepover/night shift at work for a good while – no training today at all but tomorrow I’m planning 90 minutes on the ergo after work and 30 to 60 minutes in the pool!
I have managed to do some stuff relating to the row today though – I’ve made up some flyers for my fundraising campaign that I will be putting on notice boards at work and around local stores. I’m also planning on canvassing my neighbours to let them know what I’m up to. They always see me running around when I’m training for ultras and marathons so I’m hoping my familiar face will help with the awareness drive!
As well as this I have been finalising plans for my pre-race fundraising party! This is definitely going to take place on Saturday 11th July, just 3 days before I fly out to Ibiza.
I must add that I have surprised myself by getting into the fundraising and awareness aspect of this adventure. When I signed up I was petrified at the idea of being a spokesperson for such an important cause. However, as the last 10 days have ticked by I have come to realise it’s actually a privilege to be able to raise awareness and funds for something that could literally change the world and the lives of future generations! I’m blessed not only with the opportunity to finally row an ocean but also with the opportunity to make a real impact on the way we, as a human race, fight cancer.
That’s pretty big.
Peace & Blessings
