It took about 20 minutes for my body to settle into today’s rowing effort but once I got going it felt like a decent session in the saddle. It was far less uncomfortable than both previous attempts and faster too! I stopped for sips of water every half hour and during one water stop took the time to adjust my position on the seat.
Two things that I found particularly distracting were a girl on the running machine in my eye line who had an extremely awkward and inefficient gait – I just wanted a PT or someone to go over and give some advice! The other thing was a guy he spent 15 minutes or so jogging at a fairly decent clip…backwards?!
Pace: 2:28/500m average
Anyway, after the row I decided to hit the pool for a cool down swim. I did plan to go for a half hour but my legs started to cramp a little just before I hit the 1000m mark so I called it a day – clearly my body desired food, water and a bit of downtime.
I hope the week has got off to a good start for everyone! I’m getting excited about mid-week already – I cannot wait to get on the race boat and do some rowing on the Thames…
