Workout Soundtrack: –

3km 11:36 (Country to Capital, session 9a)

30 seconds rest

1km 5:01 (Country to Capital, session 9b)

I could not resist making it seven days from seven! One whole week of running – I cannot remember the last time I strung seven days of run training together with no problems. I’m sitting here feeling pretty pleased with myself.

It was very cold, frosty and quite icy on the roads which is why I decided on a short run, I didn’t want to stay out too long and tempt fate to reach out her icy hand and bring me down a peg or two. As it was a short effort I decided to pick up my pace to tempo for the first time in quite a long time! The cold air made this a little more difficult breathing wise but body temperature and heart rate wise it was all good. I know it was fine for my HR because I also chose to wear my monitor on an outdoor run for the first time in about six months – I averaged 169bpm for the 3km tempo effort and I’m pretty pleased with that considering I’ve only just come back from an injury and into proper, regular training.

Tomorrow marks the end of the year and I am meeting Gabrielle after work. As far as I know our plan is to hit the pool, sauna and steam room and then go for a couple of cocktails and maybe an ale before heading home to sit in front of the open fire with some really tasty food: lightly roasted asparagus spears wrapped in parma ham with grated Parmesan, some olives and artichokes, homemade chips and steak followed by profiteroles which will likely be washed down with a nice bottle of rioja too…or maybe that should be two!

Peace & Blessings x
