The Forest Five results came out some time this afternoon and I am happy to report my highest ever finish at a race of any distance! There were 237 finishers and, drum roll, I finished 10th overall with an official time of 31:51! Obviously I’m really pleased but even more so because every runner form 1st to 13th runs for an established club – just goes to show that a lone wolf can roll with the pack sometimes!
Judging by the 2012 and 2013 results I thought I was going to finish around 20th place. My time wasn’t spectacular and I made the mistake of dropping in behind another runner just over a mile out from the finish and falling into his cadence – I only realised I needed to pick it up with about 1500m to go and I am so glad I did now, I can’t imagine finishing just outside the top 10 because of a simple mistake like that!
Gabrielle did really well too finishing in 126th place in 41:41 in her first trail race and only her second ever five mile run!
Peace & Blessings x
