4.35km 17:47 (Westminster Mile, session 10)
Nine workouts. Six days. 47.9km covered in 3 hours 25 minutes.
Today was the day my first race pack of the year arrived! My race number for the Westminster Mile is A1100 and I will be heading off in the first wave at 0930hrs on Saturday May 24th – I cannot wait – this race has really crept up and me but I’m feeling confident that I might just be able to take down my 1,609m/1 Mile PR! Something tells me I was being a bit overly ambitious when I originally stated I wanted to go sub 5:00 for the first time but there is no harm in trying 😀
The sun has been shining here all day and it has been killing me sitting in the office waiting for the end of the day so I could rush home, walk Loki and then head off on a much anticipated easy run! I figured I’d take it easy on the distance and the pace after yesterday’s triple session but my desire to negative split each kilometre got the best of me (along with a long downhill stretch at the end of my run) so I ended up running my fastest klick of the year so far:
1st klick 4:25, 2nd 4:13, 3rd 3:59 and 4th 3:29 (and I ran the final 350m at 3:44 pace).
I ran the whole route with a smile on my face and felt the joy of the run as the metres quickly accumulated underfoot. I could not have asked for a better run at what has turned out to be quite a stressful day at work with one thing and another! I’m now going to disappear dear reader, tomorrow will be my 7th day of running in a row and I intend to make it a good one as I’m going to rest my legs and feet on Friday and Saturday.
