I woke up at 1435hrs today. Much to my surprise, I must add!

I had a great day yesterday and consequently I was expecting a great night’s sleep – deep, unbroken and restful. Alas, something in my subconscious decided otherwise and I was plagued with some pretty intense nightmares from about 0400hrs onward! I’m glad that today is one of my days off work otherwise I don’t know how I would have been able to cope with either a Late or an Early shift – I don’t remember much at all about my disturbing dreams, I just remember a few people that seemed to be a recurring theme as I drifted in and out of fitful sleep.

Anyway, after sleeping through all of my alarms, a phone call, two text messages and some Facebook notifications from my phone I woke to find that my left shoulder was feeling quite uncomfortable and when I swung my legs out of bed my left calf felt really tight. I guess I must have been running from something in my nightmare and swinging the occasional left hook…or swimming frantically, frankly I have no idea – all I know is that I went to sleep feeling in tip top condition and I woke up feeling pretty crappy! I beat myself up a little for getting out of bed so late and I don’t think the fact it is massively overcast, pouring with rain and altogether stormy helped with getting over it. My housemate came in from his run whilst I was making my first coffee of the day and immediately set about cheering me up by telling me that it was so cold and wet outside that his bones hurt! He told me I couldn’t have picked a better day to lie in and sleep through and that, clearly, my mind and body needed the rest as I’m very much usually an early riser. Amazing what a few kind words can do for you mood 🙂

So here I sit, listening to Marilyn Manson’s ‘Mechanical Animals’ album and preparing to head out into the stormy weather to go and get the haircut I’ve been postponing since last week. Afterwards I’m going to drop in to see my Dad and then attempt to get Loki out for a walk (highly unlikely as he hates rain and thunder) before heading to the sauna in the hope of loosening up my shoulder and calf. Tomorrow, regardless of the weather, it’s long run time!

I hope the weekend starts better for you than it did for me dear reader! Enjoy it – rain, sun or storm – it’s only weather after all!

Peace Out x
