Thursday 10th October 2013

I don’t really have much to say today, I’ve been kicking back and relaxing. I’ve organised my entire iTunes library and watched a lot of TV today! South Park, Modern Family and Love/Hate. Later on I’m going to watch the World War Z movie which is something I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time.

I went over to the sauna and steam room early this morning around 1000hrs and spent 30 minutes in the sauna followed by 20 minutes in the steam room – 10 minutes of slow dynamic stretching and 10 minutes of pacing. I’m feeling much less under the weather today and after my session in the sauna and steam room I feel like I’m on the mend…this probably has quite a bit to do with the amount of cold remedies I’ve been drinking, chewing, eating and applying over the past few days as well! I’m going to go for a gentle run tomorrow at around about 1630hrs – I’m going to head out for half an hour with no set pace or distance in mind and just try to get back into the swing of things. Tomorrow’s run might also be helped by the fact my new running jacket (Haglofs Boa Hood in Ginko Green) should be delivered in the morning and considering the Indian summer that England had been experienced decided to end abruptly today that is some good timing!

Aside from my sauna and steam session I also took my Giant out for a spin this afternoon and went to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables from the local supermarket. I also decided to pick up some things to put together a turkey curry for me and my Dad this evening. As always I ended up spending more than I intended and then had quite a bit to ride back home with on my back! The ride there may have been a downhill cruise but my chest and sinuses felt the uphill struggle that was the ride home! I cannot wait to get back to my normal self and take the Giant out onto the trails and into the woods – I feel like I’ve neglected it recently, the only time it’s been out of late has been on road based cruises to the shops or to visit my brother or Dad. I’ve been looking at entering a cross-country mountain bike race or two in February and/or March to save my legs from too much running after my December/January marathon and ultra debuts…watch this space 🙂

On that note, I’m off to lie in the bath for a while before cooking some curry and transporting it to my Dad’s later 🙂

Peace & Blessings to one and all x
